Web-based platform for managing non-player characters in virtual worlds and MMOGs
The Actorbot system is integrated with Second Life, OpenSim and SWE’s virtual world platform. Clients use it to create game characters, shop assistants, greeters, live performers, and a host of other virtual robots. The UI enables non-technical users to host bots and to script bots to perform complex tasks as greeters, assistants, performing artists, game characters, sales and customer service bots.
The application also contains modules allowing users to build specific bot types, including training and education bots and bots for mass deployments in live event scenarios.
We first deployed the Actorbot system for a live music event with Phil Hartnoll (Oribital) and Nick Smith (Black Hawk Down, Hannibal). We hosted the duo playing live in 12 Second Life regions at once, with 12 Phil Hatnoll bots and 12 Nick Smith bots performing across the grid to a live audience of their fans.
